Intergenerational Music and Arts Festival
Call for Artists |
Coming on November 14-15 in Lennoxville… The Great intergenerational participatory Music & Art Festival!
Last call to bands, orchestras, choirs, singers, dancers and artists to share their talents, make new musical discoveries, meet some very cool people, and have a great time!
Eric Akbar Manolson, coordinator of intergenerational programs for Townshippers’ Association, says: “ I have recently been meeting such awesome musicians and artists…young people, middle-agers and folks over seventy…singers, violin players, guitarists, drummers, even sitar players and gospel choirs. There is so much creative talent in this part of the Townships that I wonder if we can squeeze it into one and a half days like this! With this festival, we are creating a space for elder musicians and artists and younger musicians and artists to perform their favourite material, and times for playing together and learning from one another. I have a feeling we are going to be surprised by the diversity and the high quality of music from people of different ages in the region.”
The Festival will take place on Saturday from 1-5 pm & 7:00-9:30 pm and on Sunday from 1-5 pm November 14-15 at the Amédée Beaudoin Community Centre, 10 Samuel-Gratham St. in Lennoxville. It will feature old-time country music, original music, classical music and dance performances in the early part of the day, and an evening acoustic and electric blues jam session and more. This year we are also welcoming performers of spoken word and poetry to join us!
The Intergenerational Music Festival is an initiative of the With Respect for our Elders Intergenerational project, which uses ancient and modern approaches to bring people of different ages together to share their talents and gifts of perception.
So… If you have a relative or friend who plays, sings, dances and may like to perform…or if you perform yourself…
“Don’t delay… get in touch with us right away! Whether country music, blues, classical or something we don’t know, Come on audition, and be part of the show!”
