The Spectacular Librarian at RRHS

By Laura-Chantal Larue, 18 years old

The spectacular
 Librarian at RRHS

 Laura Chantal Larue

The amazing Sheila Quinn has been a part of the Richmond community for many years and recently became the librarian at Richmond Regional High School.  She was born on October 23, 1973 in Sherbrooke, and was raised in Richmond. When she finished high school, she moved back to Sherbrooke and stayed there until four years ago. “It was good to leave to have a little change, but also very great to come back,” she stated while being interviewed.

This special woman has a great love for her two boys, Angus and Leander, and also for her friends and family around her.  When asked about the one thing she would do no matter what the expense or circumstance, her answer was, “Take my boys to Disney World.”

This young woman is the perfect image of happiness.  She has no regrets about her life. “I realize the mistakes I’ve made and learn from them, but I don’t regret anything.”

“When I was young I wanted to be a mother and a teacher, but I soon realized just how hard teaching really is, and I really admire teachers.” She did her studies in Special Care Counseling at Champlain in Lennoxville, and later worked for Le Rivage.

Even though she has no experience being a librarian, when she heard that Mr. Costello (the librarian at Richmond Regional High School) left, she applied for the job. “I wasn’t part of the school board and I wasn’t qualified for a librarian.  I realized that these two issues could play against me, but it was a job I wanted, so I worked hard to get it.”  Ever since Miss Quinn graduated from RRHS, she always wanted to work there.

Miss Quinn has many hobbies she enjoys to do in her spare time. “I love photography, watching movies, making my own jewelry, and I really enjoy reading.” She also coordinates a Youth Forum once a year, and she loves to volunteer.  She is a very caring lady and dedicates numerous hours to helping others.

She recently won an award for the Townships Leaders of Tomorrow, because of her volunteering and community involvement.  “I was very surprised and honored to have been chosen. I was very touched because people had to come together and chose me,” she said so humbly.

The last thing she said while being interviewed was,  “Life is really what you make it and it’s worth getting to know the people around you.” This special women can truly say that her life so far has been a success.  She really does take the time to get to know and enjoy those around her,  and she lives her life to the fullest.

About Laura Chantal Larue:

My name is Laura-Chantal Larue and I’m eighteen years old. I was born in St-John’s Newfoundland on December 17, 1988.  I presently live in Richmond, Quebec, but I plan on moving to Montreal to continue my studies in tourism. My passion is to visit different places and see new things. I hope some day to be a very respected tourism agent and open my own company. I'm a girl who is always very happy and I have a lot of respect for those around me. I always think of others before myself. I love to be with the public and to work directly with customers. Another one of my passions is fashion. I love clothes, shoes, purses, and everything that comes with looking fashionable.

I wrote an article on Miss Quinn for our journalism class at Richmond Regional High School, because Miss Hannan, our journalism teacher, asked me to do so as one of my term projects.  I interviewed our librarian to get the information needed to complete the article. I believe that Miss Quinn is a very special lady and that she has a well-deserved job.

A very good motto for living is: live everyday like it’s your last, and love everyday like you’ve never loved before. Don’t regret anything, but just be better next time, which is how I believe both Miss Quinn and I live.
