Four $1000 Awards Go to Young Leaders!
Townships Leaders of Tomorrow Awards went to four - not three – young recipients at the awards ceremony on sunday afternoon in Lennoxville. The 2008 recipients were Nancy Beattie, Lynn Rothney, Barbara Rowell, and the Mansonville SADD Youth Board of Directors. Each received a $1000-award for their demonstrated commitment and leadership within the Eastern Townships English-speaking community.
Certificates of recognition were also given to fourteen other young leaders for their achievements: Kate Adams, Tina Annesley, Jayson Chapman, Marc-André Drouin, Jeremy Forget, Anna Goldfinch, Kyla Hackett, Adam Langlois, Jocelyn Molyneux, Royder Rutihinda, Emma Stainton, Kenneth Suitor, Cindy Taylor, and Lisa Wagner.
Townshippers’ Association’s Townshippers of Tomorrow Committee has organized the awards for the past four years, relying on nominations from the public and contributions from interested businesses and other groups to provide the monetary awards. “This is the first time we’ve been able to give four thousand-dollar awards,” said Townshippers’ president Michael van Lierop. “We could not have done it without donations from Literacy in Action, Nav Canada, and Novus Packaging, in addition to support from Canadian Heritage.”
