Nancy Beattie, North Hatley
Nancy Beattie of North Hatley, age 32, is an extremely active member of the English-speaking community of the Eastern Townships. Her list of accomplishments and community involvement is long and varied. Currently, she is president of the Townships Sun board of directors, coordinator of the Eaton Valley Community Learning Centre and a job counsellor at Job Links. Nancy also works with the Health & Education Committee in Stanstead, sits on the Community Table (a province-wide community economic development organization), the Environment Committee for the Canton de Hatley and the St. Francis Valley Naturalist Club. Louise Caron and Jan Draper, Nancy’s two nominators, wrote that “Nancy is the master at forming the coalitions among groups needed to reach certain critical Townships goals.”
