Tasks: The director of engineering takes charge of new projects relating to technological transfer, conception and drawing, with partners outside the country. He/she plans, organizes, directs and controls the engineering activities and collaborates on research and development when necessary. More specifically, the person sees to the improvement and standardization of the conception and computer-assisted and 3-D drawings and ensure the development of the production with new equipment. Organizational Development: Sit on the management committee; Participate in the elaboration and follow-up of the organizational development plan (Plan de développement organisationnel (PDO)); Advance the projects of the PDO which he/she is responsible for, and produce a report for follow-up meetings. Planning and Budgets: See to the planning of projects for the departments he is responsible for (macro schedule); Ensure that the idea-men respect the allowed budgets and the targeted objectives; Approve purchases of supplies, pieces and equipment; Ensure that the components chosen meet budgets. Enginneering: Participate in the meetings to launch projects (Kick-off); Attribute, coordinate, check and supervise the technical work of the engineering departments; Prepare and respect the design deadlines; Control the output of each design department (electrical and mechanical) and ensure the level of design quality is maintained; Elaborate systems, procedures and work methods favourable to the acheiving of objectives of the mechanical and electrical departments and to the improvement of processes; Participate directly, if necessary, in the design, elaboration and inspection of technical projects or engineering work; Ensure approval for all plans coming from outside in order to ensure the conformity of plans with regards to internal requirements; Plan and preside over the design journals for certain projects. Human Resources: Evaluate personnel he/she is responsible for; See to the adhesion and application of the safety rules and policies of the company by employees; Ensure development of the skills of the members of the team he/she is responsible for; Organize and facilitate regular department meetings on an established basis; Define the work-force needs and participate in recruitment procedures; Ensure the respect of policies and procedures in place; Participate in the activities of the SST, do prevention with personnel and assume work health and safety roles related to his/her position (inspections, work health and safety committee, make modifications to the work milieu, investigations and analyses). Requirements: Education: University - Undergraduate (Bachelor's), University training in mechanical or electrical engineering, completed Years of experience: 10 or more Other: 10 years relevant experience, particularly in the management of technological development, engineering and personnel; Familiar with SolidWorks, AutoCad and MS Office; Mastery of French and English; You are known as a mobilizer, a good communicator and a person of integrity; You are disciplined, rigorous and able to make decisions; You are professional; You are capable of work in a mulitdisciplinary team.
