Details of the offer: Université de Sherbrooke invites applications for a full-time, limited-term position as an Assistant Professor of English and Intercultural Studies. This is a one-year appointment with possibility of renewal. Duties: - Undergraduate and graduate teaching in English Studies, specifically in linguistics applied to the teaching and acquisition of English as a second language. - Involvement in the development of the Language Centre. - Participation in the Baccalauréat en enseignement de l'anglais langue seconde in collaboration with the Faculty of Education. - Collaboration with colleagues specializing in Canadian literature, comparative literature, professional writing, and translation. - Research in related fields, preferably in English as a second language, in the teaching of literature in a second language, or in intercultural studies. - Supervision of undergraduate and graduate work; thesis direction. - Active participation in university and educational community-based initiatives. Requirements: PhD in applied linguistics or education, with a specialization in English as a second language. Native or native-like fluency in spoken and written English. Experience in university teaching. Knowledge of current ESL programs and their development. Knowledge of French. Ability for team work and research. Experience in the area of specialization (in research or in curriculum development), in the teaching of literature in a second language, or in intercultural studies will be considered major assets. The working conditions are governed by the collective agreements in force.
