No Experience Necessary – On-the-job Training
Theatre Townships is now selecting eight young adults to share in a new and exciting employment opportunity. The project is designed to develop life and employment skills through the assorted disciplines of theatre production. The participants will have a chance to gain portable work skills, self-confidence, and a realization of their worth. No prior experience in theatre is required.
Theatre Townships focuses on more than performance. As participants progress, they acquire skills in production. They experience set design, construction, creative writing, marketing, sales, public speaking and fundraising. By venturing into the community, they will be exposed to a network of partners and potential employers for the future. The knowledge learned will serve them well in the job market or in furthering their formal education.
Participants receive a living allowance of $255 a week for the duration of the project.
The project is slated to begin January 19, 2009. Candidates must be 16 to 30 years of age, out of school, unemployed or under-employed and not receiving Employment Insurance.
