The Townships Youth Link (TYL)
What is it?
The Townships Youth Link (TYL) aims to foster a sense of belonging among English-speaking teens and youth workers in the Eastern Townships, and to encourage and promote their active participation in social, cultural and community development efforts in the English-speaking community.
The project also helps keep youth up-to-date on opportunities related to education, employment and community involvement available in the Eastern Townships. This includes help for young English-speakers who wish to integrate themselves into existing initiatives in French.
TYL activities include:
? "The Link" e-newsletter which includes information about career, education and social engagement opportunities available to youth (ages 14-25) in the Eastern Townships. To sign up, send Michelle an e-mail (ml@townshippers.qc.ca).
? Creation of a web portal for English-speaking youth (www.youthtownships.ca, also called The Link) which will allow youth to share information and foster communication among young people from various parts of the Eastern Townships. Check out www.youthtownships.ca for more information about this project or to get involved.
? Skill-building and team-building workshops on topics that fit the needs and interests of English-speaking youth in the Townships.
? Creation of a Townshippers' Association Youth Council that will work to promote social, cultural and community involvement for young English-speakers.
