Mitchell Young

"His warm, friendly and respectable approach always makes it a pleasure to work with him"says Mr. Dan Major, Director of Security, Bishop's University

Mitchell Young,
Sherbrooke

Mitchell Young, of Sherbrooke, is extremely involved with Townships youth through sports.  In fact, Mr. Bruce Stevenson, Dean of Student Affairs at Bishop's University, says that Mitchell has taught hundreds of children to swim at the Lennoxville pool.  He has also coached groups of youth on the midget Lacrosse team to a silver medal in the provincial competition.

During the coming summer, he will coach the Quebec Bantam team for the provincials.  Mitchell himself played on the junior lacrosse team, where he was captain for three of the four years he participated.  He was also the top scorer for three of those four years and holds the record for the most points scored during a junior career.

Among his other athletic accomplishments, Mitchell received the 2006 Lennoxville Outstanding Achievement Award for athletics.  Sports are not Mitchell's only talent, however, according to Mr. Dan Major, Director of Security at Bishop's University.  While attending Champlain, Mitchell joined the Bishop's Student Safety team as a student patroller.  His leadership and problem solving skills helped Mitchell work his way up to Crew Chief and then Assistant Manager of Student Safety.  As a member of the student safety team, Mitchell has served the community by providing first aid and by preventing crime.

'His warm, friendly and respectable approach always makes it a pleasure to work with him', Mr. Dan Major says.

When asked about winning a Townships Leader of Tomorrow Award, Mitchell said: "For me, winning the Townships Leader of Tomorrow Award is a huge honour.  I am just glad that I have been able to make a difference in our community and am looking forward to continuing to help out the Townships in the future. With so many worthy candidates for this award, it makes me very proud to even be considered for this award.  Thank you very much, it is truly an honour".

Congratulations Mitchell!
